Garden update! 02/01/2015

Hello friends!

Well, it was eventful week... and not all in a good way. I ended up finding more of those leaf miners on the basil seedlings, and eggs on my fennel plants. Instead of fighting this losing battle, I decided to remove all of my hydroponic plants.

Garden update! 01/26/2015

Hello friends!

It's been another somewhat slow week around the garden. The squash and zucchini that I planted out early don't seem to be doing so well. I'll be ordering another batch of seeds to start backups just in case. I also lost all my indoor peppers to some kind of leaf miner infestation that seemed to have exploded overnight.

Garden update! 01/20/2015

Hello friends!

The flowers are finally starting to open! From aloe to yarrow, I've got all kinds of flowers blooming both inside and out. The oldest hydro bin has set flower, and is starting to wilt. I've enjoyed watching this one grow, but it will be time to have a cycle of new plants growing soon. I already have some basil and arugula started!

Garden update! 01/11/2015

Hello friends!

The plants in my garden beds don't seem to be bouncing back from the frost we had. The only things in the yard that look like they're thriving are the weeds. But honestly, I don't mind that. I don't have the same hatred that most do for weeds... I simply don't understand it. If they're not in my garden beds, they're not hurting anything. And there can be such a unique beauty to them if you actually take the time to see them.

Getting Ready for Spring

Hello friends!

The garden really took a hit with the below freezing temperatures we had in our area. I wasn't expecting them, and definitely wasn't ready for them. As a result the watermelon, peppers, and eggplant I was going to attempt to over-winter all died off....

Garden Tour

Hello friends!

I know I said I'd be posting a garden tour this weekend, but after 3 back-to-back nights of below freezing temperatures, basically everything in my garden worth discussing has died.

Some of it was carelessly covered with a burlap cloth just to see what would happen. That didn't save anything. The living stuff is some radishes, broccoli, and cauliflower. The downside to those is that they're all scrawny and not worth showing off.

I've got some seedling started, I'll be posting macros of those soon! I promise!
